After the Big Day

Our wedding itself was a beautiful, wondrous day. We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was sunny and comfortable, and there were no major incidents. We only had one minor problem with the appetizers served after the wedding... in our rush to plan and get everything ready, we misplaced some of the appetizers and, therefore, we didn't have quite as much food as we had expected to serve. But, everyone had something to eat and there was even a little left afterwards that was donated to the church.

The ceremony was beautiful as well. Our only regret was that we couldn't invite and involve more of our family and friends in the day. We had planned a bigger reception for after the wedding but, due to the costs involved, we were forced to scale back considerably. Hence, we had the cake and appetizer reception at the church immediately following the wedding and then took just immediate family and the wedding party out to dinner afterwards.

Here are some of the interesting facts of the day.

H.A.N.K.

The forming of HANK is an underlying theme of our new family unit. HANK is an acronym representing the combining of Haley, Amy, Noah, and Kevin into our new family. Reverend Steve made HANK a part of the ceremony and HANK was brought into the world on March 4, 2006. Don't be surprised to come to our new home and see signs welcoming you to “HANK’s Place”. Just smile and be part of the understanding “in” crowd.

Family Vows

We wanted to make our wedding day special for our little family. Because we were combining two families, we felt it necessary that the kids be very involved in the whole wedding. In addition to their jobs during the wedding (Haley played a flute duet with her friend Stephanie and Noah was the acolyte and ring bearer), we gave special vows directly to the children. We hadn't told anyone about the vows except the reverend so, everyone was quite surprised and touched by the sentiment. Read more...
